How to configure a serial console session using Hyperterminal:


  1. Connect a null-modem cable from serial port A on the server to COM1 on the PC
  2. Launch hyperterminal:
    3. Start > Programs > Accessories > Communications > Hyperterminal
  3. Enter a name for the new connection::



  4. Select the appropriate COM port:



  5. Enter the port settings 8n1:



  6. Hit ENTER a few times, and you should see a prompt
